Field Foundation
Practical judgement built through real guest experience.
YK Japan was founded by Taku Kobayashi, a nationally licensed guide with more than ten years of experience working directly with international guests in Japan.
In recent years, Taku has spent around 200 days annually in the field. That experience has shown how often an itinerary that looks reasonable on paper can work very differently once real guests, traffic, weather, walking distances, meal timing and group movement are involved.
Experience in Practice
What the field reveals.
Days spent in the field annually in recent years.
Groups, families, senior travellers and different international markets.
Direct work across Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Koyasan, Hiroshima and other regions builds an understanding of timing, pacing, access, guest expectations and operational realities that cannot be gained from maps alone.
Why YK Japan Was Created
Turn field experience into useful B2B decisions.
YK Japan applies that field perspective to help overseas travel companies make better-informed decisions before they commit.
The company was created to turn first-hand experience into practical research and review services: checking assumptions, explaining local conditions and identifying improvements for the guests a product is meant to serve.
Taku’s work as a guide is separate from YK Japan and is not part of the services described on this website.
How We Evaluate
Not simply whether a place is good.
The more useful question is whether it works for the intended guests, group size, season and wider itinerary.
That means looking at cumulative walking, transfer pressure, meal timing, mobility, attention span, weather, congestion and the expectations created before arrival.
Company and Services
A focused role for overseas travel companies.
YK Japan provides independent itinerary reviews, on-site research and field-based recommendations. Reservations and delivery remain with the client and its licensed providers.
